Public Health Center Standard
The Healthcare Accreditation Institute (Public Organization) plays a vital role, as stipulated in the Royal Decree establishing the organization, in assessing healthcare systems and accrediting healthcare facilities, as well as setting standards for healthcare facilities to be used as guidelines for assessment, development, and accreditation. This is to promote mechanisms for governing quality standards and safety in the primary healthcare system, in alignment with the 20-year National Strategic Plan for Public Health and the Ministry of Public Health’s policy to strengthen the primary healthcare system.
Since 2014, the Institute has collaborated with the Department of Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, to develop the Standards for Public Health Centers to serve as a framework for promoting development and accreditation of health service units that do not provide inpatient care, aiming to enhance the quality of primary healthcare services in urban public health centers.
In response to advancements in medical science and technology, as well as evolving concepts in quality development, national policies, and strategies, the Second Edition of the Standards for Public Health Centers (2022) was developed in accordance with the international ISQua IEEA standards. The focus is on healthcare facility management that delivers value to service recipients, ensures safety, promotes continuous quality improvement, and provides a person-centered healthcare system, ultimately driving the holistic enhancement of primary healthcare quality.
