Dr. Piyawan Limpanyalert Appointed as President of ASQua Reaffirming Thailand’s leadership in healthcare quality and patient safety on the global stage

October 14, 2025 Dr. Piyawan Limpanyalert, Chief Executive Officer of the Healthcare Accreditation Institute (Public Organization) — HAI, Thailand, has been appointed President of the Asian Society for Quality in Health Care (ASQua) for the 2025–2027 term.
She officially assumed the position from Dr. Karen Luxford, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), during the 12th Executive Board Meeting and 9th Annual General Meeting of ASQua, held alongside the 41st ISQua International Conference at the World Trade Center, São Paulo, Brazil.
Dr. Piyawan expressed that this appointment is both a personal honor and a national pride for Thailand. It represents global recognition of the Healthcare Accreditation Institute (HAI) as a leading organization in advancing healthcare quality and patient safety across the Asian region.
“Today, HAI is widely acknowledged for its important role in developing and promoting hospital accreditation systems in Asia. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen and expand our collaborative network to ensure that everyone has equitable access to safe and high-quality healthcare,” said Dr. Piyawan.
She also reflected on her experience as ASQua President-Elect over the past two years, noting the valuable collaboration with Dr. Karen Luxford and ASQua’s Executive Board. “From this point onward, I am committed to advancing ASQua’s mission — to drive healthcare quality and safety through universal accreditation mechanisms, and to foster stronger connections between Asian member countries, ISQua, and the global health community.”
The Asian Society for Quality in Health Care (ASQua) serves as a collaborative platform for organizations and experts across Asia dedicated to improving healthcare quality and patient safety. The appointment of Dr. Piyawan as President reaffirms Thailand’s leadership and continued commitment to promoting healthcare excellence both regionally and globally.
