HAI Welcomes Senior Delegation from the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka for a Study Visit on Thailand’s Healthcare Accreditation System

Dr. Piyawan Limpanyalert, CEO of the Healthcare Accreditation Institute (Public Organization), Thailand, welcomed a delegation of six senior executives from the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka, during their study visit to learn about Thailand’s hospital and healthcare service accreditation system. The program also featured a special lecture by Dr. Danupat Ratanavaraha, Chief of Academic and Public Sector Standards Subdivision, Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health, as a representative of the Thai Ministry of Public Health.
The study visit took place from 17–21 November 2025 under the theme:
“Thailand – Sri Lanka Collaboration on Healthcare Quality:
A Study Visit to Private Hospital and Primary Care Accreditation”
at the Healthcare Accreditation Institute (Public Organization), 5th Floor, National Health Building, Nonthaburi Province.
This visit was organized to support Sri Lanka’s ongoing development of a national accreditation framework for its private healthcare sector, which includes more than 6,000 private healthcare institutions across the country. The delegation gained insights into Thailand’s Hospital and Healthcare Standards (HA), the accreditation and assessment processes, and practical approaches to strengthening patient and healthcare worker safety (3P Safety).
The program also included field visits to observe how HA standards are applied in exemplary private hospitals in Thailand, enabling participants to explore real-world implementation, quality measurement, and safety systems.
The knowledge and experience gained from this study visit will contribute directly to the design and development of Sri Lanka’s national accreditation framework, while also strengthening long-term technical collaboration between Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and the Healthcare Accreditation Institute of Thailand—toward improving healthcare quality and safety in the region on a sustainable basis.
